Referring to the rumors that been spread
in the internet with regards to the lecture given by Ustaz
Daud Che Ngah disputing `HALAL' status of the KFC products
and to avoid misunderstanding among Muslims, I would like
to clarify that those rumors are not true at all. I have
contacted Ustaz Daud Che Ngah on 16th November 2000 at 10.45
am to get clarification from him because there were some
sort of manipulation of facts by unknown parties referring
to the comments said by him earlier. Ustaz Daud responding
by saying that he made the statement approximately 15 years
ago, whereby during that time there are no `HALAL' certification
yet. Halal certification only began on 1994. From 1994 -
1997 all restaurants that carry the KFC HOLDINGS (MALAYSIA)
BHD flag are certified `HALAL' by JAKIM.
It is somehow true that the slaughtering of the chicken were
done at previous plant at Jalan Kelang Lama, 15 years ago.
During that period, the `HALAL' recognition were certified
by individuals but since 1994 the slaughtering of the chicken
took place at the new plant in Port Klang (North Port) or better
known as `AYAMAS FOOD CORPORATION" (AFCB) and the processing
monitored by Veterinary Department and JAKIM.
Since 1997, the Shariah Advisory Council Committee were formed
in KFC, led by the officer who has the authority to advise,
certify and to ensure all KFC products are `HALAL' product
before introduction for Public Consumption. At present all
slaughtering were done according to the SHARIAH LAW and certified
by JAIS and JAKIM. The majority workers at the processing plant
are Muslim and the slaughtering is only done by Muslims. All
products from AFCB and the slaughtering of the chicken were
recognised as one of the best, hygienic and complied with SHARIAH
BY LAW and accepted as purely halal by Brunei and Singapore.
With explanation given, I hope all parties will get a clearer
picture and better understanding so that this issue will not
rise again in future. For any queries kindly contact 03-20263388
